A hotel located in a modern building with lots of plants and a nice rooftop bar and pool.
This is the hotel I booked for my trip to Barcelona, Spain. The hotel is a bit far from downtown Barcelona but close to the airport. It took about 15 minutes by car from the airport. It was relatively cheap to get there by Uber. It was nice that the pick-up location at the airport was set. Looking at the map, it seemed like there was a nearby exhibition center called FIRA Barcelona. So there were a lot of hotels nearby.
Check in and hotel lobby
The lobby was stylishly decorated with leather sofas, and there was a bar next to it that sold simple drinks and food. They gave me cool ice water when I checked in. It was refreshing. The staff were friendly and tried to help me if I needed anything.
Hotel room
I took the elevator from the lobby to my hotel room. It was a modern building with lots of green plants planted here and there, which was fun and refreshing. The hotel room was also white and clean, but the shape of the window was unique because it was shaped like a palm tree. When the sunlight came in and created shadows, it felt like I was lying under a palm tree. I think that’s what the architect was aiming for. The bathroom and shower facilities were also clean.
Breakfast
If you are a Marriott Platinum member, you can get breakfast. Breakfast was on the 14th floor. The restaurant is decorated in a modern way using stainless steel and plants, just like the building. It seems to be used as a restaurant for lunch and dinner. It was so good because there were various fruits, cheeses, and Jamón Ibérico. I tried to eat jamon as much as possible when I was in Spain. It is salty, so it is very delicious when eaten with crispy bread. There was even sparkling wine with drinks, so I started my vacation by drinking sparkling wine in the morning🥂
Roof top pool and bar
There is a rooftop bar and a swimming pool on the top floor. It is not large in size or fancy in facilities, but it is nice to be able to feel the warm Spanish sun. The rooftop bar has friendly staffs and sells cold beer and drinks. It was a little disappointing that there was no shade. To be honest, the sun in Barcelona was so hot that I couldn’t stand it for more than an hour. The water is not warm, but it was actually nice because it cools down my body temperature 🤣
Overall rating
It is a bit far from downtown Barcelona, so you can’t really feel the Spanish vibe that is unique to Barcelona, but the facilities are great, clean, and modern. The air conditioning works well, so it’s cool. It’s close to the airport, which is nice.
