The Palau de la Música, Barcelona

General information

A magnificent music hall located in Barcelona

When I planned my Barcelona travel, I booked a guitar trio and flamingo concert at this famous music hall. After arriving Barcelona, I found the music hall while walking down the alleys following the address of the music hall. I was surprised by its splendid exterior. The front of the music hall was bustling with people.

The music hall, built with red bricks, had ornate marble sculptures on its pillars and the walls were decorated with colorful mosaics unique to the Catalan region. It was even more beautiful in the evening when the lights were on.

Part of the concert hall was renovated and covered with glass, and the inside was used as a restaurant or cafe. In order to preserve the beautiful building, they made it indoors. I thought it was a good idea.

Brief history of the concert hall

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a famous concert hall in Barcelona, known for its stunning Modernist architecture. Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and completed in 1908, the building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Inside of the concert hall: jaw-dropping 😮

The inside of the concert hall was even more beautiful. It was incredibly gorgeous. The entrance to the concert hall was decorated with intricately carved sculptures and brightly colored tiles.

The concert hall was the real highlight. Rose-shaped tiles covered the ceiling. On both sides of the concert hall, there were sculptures that looked like they were coming down from the sky. There were sculptures of musicians on the walls during the concert, and it was fun to see them appreciating and evaluating the music. There was a famous stained glass on the ceiling that was incredibly large and gorgeous with various colors. As I continued to look at the stained glass, it felt like my soul was being sucked into it.

After the concert

Next, I went to see the guitar trio and flamenco show that I had booked. The music of the guitar trio was sweet. The flamenco that a man and a woman performed was powerful. There were also cases where guitar and flamenco performed together, which was impressive. But to be honest, the concert hall was more impressive. How would it feel to play in a concert hall like this? If it were me, I would feel honored.

When I came out after the performance, it was dark. The concert hall lit up had a different feel. It was calm and warm. I thought it was a place you must visit at least once if you visit Barcelona.
