Delicious dim sum at the Venetian Hotel

The place I visited during my trip to Macau is a famous dim sum restaurant located on the first floor of the Venetian Hotel.

It is located on the first floor of the Venecia Macau Hotel. However, since the Venecia Hotel itself is large, it may be difficult to find. Restaurants surround every entrance around the casino, so you just need to find the casino first. And you just need to find a restaurant decorated with a Chinese-style roof. You can easily see the sign from a distance.

Dim sum is traditionally known to be eaten at lunchtime, but perhaps because this is a casino, you can enjoy it anytime. Just like other Chinese restaurants these days, here you can order by scanning the QR code on the table once you sit down.

I ordered seasoned cucumbers, which are good as a pre-meal appetizer. They are slightly spicy and sour, making them perfect for whetting the appetite. It also contains mushrooms, adding a chewy texture.

I also ate Chinese-style chicken feet. Unlike in Korea, it is not spicy. It has a sweet and salty sauce with a soy sauce base. It is tender, perhaps because it was boiled thoroughly. The bones separate easily. There are peanuts underneath.

Shumai is a representative dim sum made by wrapping minced pork, shrimp, mushrooms, and other ingredients in a dumpling wrapper and shaping it into a flower shape with an open top. You can enjoy the flavors of both shrimp and pork. It was topped with flying fish roe, so it had a popping texture. Unlike other Hong Kong Tim Sum places, it came in portions of four, making it good for sharing.

I ate another famous dim sum, Har Gow. Har Gow is a dim sum made with shrimp and pork fat inside a chewy, translucent starch wrapper. I liked that it had plump shrimp inside. The dough was chewy and the shrimp was fresh.

Finally, I ate changfen. Changfen is a type of dim sum made by rolling out rice flour dough thinly, filling it with ingredients such as shrimp and pork, steaming it, and then drizzling it with a sweet soy sauce. The freshly made changfen was soft and the sauce had a great umami flavor. It was served with broccoli on the side, I enjoyed it too.

Since it is Macau, the prices are a bit high. Also, it was noisy because it is next to a casino. Nevertheless, it was nice to be able to enjoy traditional dim sum anytime.
