Location
The San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront Hotel is located near San Francisco Airport. If you go a little further south from the airport, it is situated on the beach.
It only takes about 5 minutes by car from the airport. There is also a shuttle service that runs between the airport and the hotel. The shuttle bus is a very large spacious black bus. They say it runs frequently. However, it seems it can get crowded at times because there are many flight crew members.
However, perhaps because it is the U.S., it is very difficult to visit other restaurants without a car. There is a nearby city called Millbrae, but it takes about 20 minutes to walk there.
Flights view lounge
One of the key features of this hotel is its proximity to the airport and runway. From the lounge, you can frequently watch planes landing and taking off; perhaps because San Francisco has a large airport, aircraft really do pass by constantly. Time flies just watching the planes. The view of the airport through the floor-to-ceiling windows is very beautiful.
There is a bar in the center selling alcohol and a large TV screen, so many people relieve their fatigue there. It becomes a restaurant that serves two meals during breakfast hours.
Rooms
Even when I checked in, it seemed like crew members from various airlines were staying here. There were so many people in the room. Nevertheless, the room was spacious and clean. A kettle and water were provided. Since there was a bathtub, it was nice to take a hot bath before returning home.
M club
I was able to use the M Club, but it seemed like it wasn’t open in the afternoons on weekends. Instead, breakfast was provided for members in the mornings; fruit and bread were served at the restaurant next door, while beverages, coffee, yogurt, and bananas were available inside the club lounge. It was nice to be able to dine in a quiet place, but it’s hard to expect the same level of luxury as the Asian lounges 😂
My overall thoughts on staying at this hotel
Compared to other hotels in the U.S., especially those in the San Francisco area, the price was affordable, and being located by the beach made it great for walks. Watching airplanes while strolling through a nearby park was an amazing experience. Since it is close to the airport and has a shuttle, and is a bit far from downtown San Francisco, I thought it would be a good place to stay for about one night on the last day of a trip before heading to catch a flight.
