Clean and pleasant lounge available at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the central airport for China Southern Airlines, and many of its aircraft operate there. Since we did not fly with China Southern Airlines this time, we were unable to use the China Southern Airlines lounge and were guided here instead.

After completing departure procedures and exiting to the airside, there are various duty-free shops. The airport is very large but pleasant. There are signs directing you to the Premium Lounge, so you can enter by taking the escalator up one floor.

You can see the sign
Lounge entrance

You can enter by showing your boarding pass. After entering, there is a machine nearby where you can get the Wi-Fi password. However, it is a bit of a hassle.

The lounge was much larger than I expected and had plenty of seating. There were areas with a nice atmosphere themed around traditional Chinese tea, as well as places with comfortable sofas. It was also nice that there were various power outlets available for charging.

There is a Nodle Bar in front of the lounge in China, where you can order and eat various types of noodles. There were also fresh vegetables like tomatoes and salads, as well as Chinese-style vegetable dishes. Cakes and fruit were also available. Beverages were served as well. What was impressive was that the coffee was brewed fresh by a barista. The cafe latte was delicious.

A warm bowl of noodles topped with spicy meat seasoning was perfect as a souvenir before leaving China. The accompanying stir-fried broccoli was also fresh and refreshing.

Shower facilities were available and looked spacious, but I couldn’t use them because I had just showered.

The bad

There was only one type of beer, and the wine selection was poor, with just a red and a white wine.

Getting the Wi-Fi password was cumbersome, and the connection was not smooth.

Overall review

The space was spacious with a variety of comfortable seats, so it was good for a quick rest. However, the food selection was limited and I didn’t find it particularly outstanding. It was sufficient for refreshing before a short trip. Next time, I would like to try the China Southern Lounge as well.
