Lunch buffet at the Westin Josun hotel in Myeongdong, Seoul
On a hot summer day, I visited the Westin Josun Seoul, an old and historic hotel in Myeongdong.
The historic building in front of the Westin Josun Seoul is Hwanggungu, a three-story octagonal shrine built in 1899 as part of the Wongudan Altar complex. It was constructed by Emperor Gojong to symbolize the sovereignty of the Korean Empire, serving as a sacred place to house memorial tablets for heavenly rites.
The hotel is well-maintained and painstakingly decorated with various sculptures. Although it is an old hotel, it has a classic and classy feel.
It was my first time at the lunch buffet, and there was a much wider variety of food and meat than at breakfast.
First, there was steamed clams, sashimi, and Japanese-style fried food. It was clean and delicious.
There was a variety of fresh vegetables, and the salads were delicious, with a variety of seafood and meats. A variety of grilled meats, including homemade ham and lamb, were also available.
Korean food was served with rice, and kimchi was also used. The kimchi at the Chosun Hotel was exceptionally clean and refreshing.
Indian food was also served alongside Chinese food.
Cheese and delicious-looking freshly baked bread were also provided.
A variety of desserts were also offered. There were tarts, cakes, and even strawberry mousse éclairs.
The fruits were fresh and sweet.
It was a buffet, but each dish was excellent. At the end, we were served a shaved ice made with corn and popcorn. It was sweet yet had a hint of corn flavor, which was fun. It was a shaved ice you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
Although it is expensive, if you want to spend some special time with your family or lover, it is a place you will not regret visiting at least once.
